SAN MIGUEL ALLENDE, MEXICO AS A RETIREMENT DESTINATION
As many in my “boomer” generation are approaching retirement, we are all looking for ways to stretch our savings and reduce living costs. One plan a friend and I conceived of was to look at places to retire outside the United States. We decided to search out some places on our own and have a personal first-hand experience and hopefully, an adventure as well. Our evaluation would be based on five criteria: (1) cost, (2) a community of like-minded people, (3) modern medical facilities and specialists, (4) a cultural and entertaining environment, and (5), political stability and safety.
